Evaluation / Assessments "running list" for AT 409

Assessment for Qgis Map Build
#1. Prior to the Qgis Build i would say I would rank myself at a 2. That the only knowledge i had was that from the GIS lecture and the ArcMap mapping project.
#2. After the project i would still rate my knowledge level at around 2. that is i have not gained any more knowledge, just that i have been exposed to a new software package.
#3. The hands on approach was challenging, It was difficult to keep up when the instruction was just a do what i say and follow my actions. Doing this way meant that there was no way to review what you have done to learn the steps or locations of GUI's to get from one aspect to the other. So if you fell behind of missed a step, then you are just lost in the software and have to turn to the internet or peers to figure out the steps you missed to get back on track. All the while falling more behind during the in class demonstration.
#4. Learning strategies for this activity would include step by step instructions to complete the required task. I do not feel that learning the software was a valuable use of course time. As apposed to learning techniques for analysis spatial data and what GIS is actually representing and how to apply this field to UAS applications.

Assessment for ArcMap Wolf Paving Map Build
#1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about
the topic. (1-No Knowledge at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some
knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5-I knew all about this)

2. I would say that my knowledge of  GIS ends with that fact that I know it exist.

#2.  Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge
you have on the topic (1- I don’t really know enough to talk about the topic, 2-
I know enough to explain what I did, 3-I know enough to repeat what I did, 4-I
know enough to teach someone else, 5- I am an expert)

2. I think i have enough knowledge to explain what I did. However, not very well.

#3. 3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were
able to learn (1-Strongly Disagree, 2-Disagree, 3-No real opinion, 4-Agree, 5-
Strongly Agree)

4. Doing it my self helped me learn, although i did have to go back and watch the videos to find the correct GUIs to complete the project. The inconvenience of having to go to main campus was annoying and limited my desire to complete the task.

#4.What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even
better?
I am not certain that learning a new software was as important as leaning what aspects of maps are desired for data projects. for this activity, i do not know what  wolf paving was supposed to gain for the UAS data set. if that was more clear, than the intent of making a make would make more sense to me and in turn be developed with more of a purpose in mind to answer the report questions of "why" to a higher standard.
